Workshop: MEEP software for electromagnetic simulations, Dr. Ardavan Oskooi — Oct. 8
October 8, 2014 @ 12:00 am
Dr. Ardavan Oskooi of the U-M Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science will give a workshop titled “MEEP: A flexible software package for electromagnetic simulations by the FDTD method — a hands-on workshop for advanced users.” Time: 1:30 – 3:30 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 8 Location: Windows Training Rooms 1 & 2 (3358), Duderstadt Center Abstract: This workshop for researchers in the photonics and optics community will explore the various capabilities and inner workings of the open-source finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) software package for electromagnetism developed at MIT known as MEEP. Since its initial public release in 2006, MEEP has become a popular tool in the photonics community given its extensive feature set and ability to support large-scale, parallelized computations. Several examples demonstrating some of the advanced capabilities of the software relevant to current research in nanophotonic, plasmonic and photovoltaic devices will be discussed via a two-hour hands-on tutorial with the code. Familiarity with the MEEP interface and some knowledge of the Scheme programming language are recommended but not required.
Seating is limited, so advance registration is recommended.
