New funding model for Flux Operating Environment for LSA, Engineering, and Medical School

By June 18, 2014 April 26th, 2016 News

ARC is pleased to announce a new funding model for the Flux Operating Environment (FOE), which allows researchers to add their own computing hardware to the Flux high performance computing cluster. FOE is available for researchers who receive grants from external funding agencies for purchasing equipment and/or have needs that differ significantly from those that can be met by other Flux services (rental Standard-Memory, Larger-Memory or GPU allocations). Under the new funding model, FOE subscription costs will be covered for a period of four years upon installation for equipment purchased through external grants submitted between July 1, 2014 and June 30, 2016 for researchers in the following units:

  • Medical School
  • College of Engineering
  • College of Literature, Science and the Arts

All other FOE rules, such as the need to closely coordinate any purchase with Advanced Research Computing (ARC), apply. Please email arc-contact@umich.edu with any questions.
